Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 21, 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to The Skeeter Project website (https://theskeeterproject.org - "Site"). This policy outlines our data practices for this Site, which is primarily for a US audience. We use analytics, display maps (Google Maps), handle registrations (Google Forms), and accept donations (Zeffy).

2. Information Collection

We collect information primarily through integrated third-party services:

Via Email: If you email us at the address below, we receive your email address and message content.

Via Third-Party Forms: You may provide information directly to third parties through embedded forms:

  • Google Forms: Information submitted for tournament registration goes to Google and is accessible to us via our Google account. (Google's Privacy Policy).
  • Zeffy: Donation information (name, email, payment details) goes directly to Zeffy for processing. (Zeffy's Privacy Policy).

Automatically Collected Data:

  • Cloudflare Analytics: We use Cloudflare's privacy-focused analytics (no tracking cookies) for aggregated site statistics (views, referrers, countries, device types). (Cloudflare's Privacy Policy).
  • Google Maps Embeds: Interacting with embedded maps may allow Google to collect your IP address, browser/device info, interaction data, and potentially location data. (Google's Privacy Policy).
  • Server Logs: Standard logs (IP address, browser type) may be kept briefly for security and operations.

3. How We Use Information

We use accessible information to:

  • Operate and maintain the Site.
  • Analyze usage via aggregated Cloudflare Analytics to improve the Site performance.
  • Display tournament locations via Google Maps.
  • Facilitate tournament registration (accessing Google Form data).
  • Facilitate donations (via Zeffy; we may receive donor info from Zeffy).
  • Respond to direct emails.
  • Ensure site security.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. Information Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell personal information in the traditional sense. Data is processed by or shared with third parties as follows:

  • Cloudflare: Processes analytics data as our service provider.
  • Google: Receives data directly when you interact with embedded Maps or Forms. We access Form submission data via our Google account.
  • Zeffy: Receives data directly when you use the donation form. May share donor details with us.
  • Service Providers: Hosting providers, etc., may have incidental access.
  • Legal/Safety: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights/safety.
  • Business Transfers: Information might be transferred if the project merges or is acquired.

Review third-party policies linked in Section 2.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

  • Cloudflare Analytics: Does not use tracking cookies. Cloudflare may use essential cookies for security/performance.
  • Google Maps/Forms: These embeds set cookies governed by Google's policies.
  • Zeffy: This embed sets cookies governed by Zeffy's policies.

You can manage cookies via your browser settings, but blocking may affect embedded services.

6. Your Privacy Rights (US Residents)

Depending on your US state, you may have rights like: Know/Access, Delete, Correct, Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing, Limit Sensitive PII Use, and Non-Discrimination. We do not "sell" data traditionally. Potential "sharing" under laws like CCPA/CPRA via Google embeds depends on Google's data use.

To Exercise Rights:

  • For data we control: Contact us at [email protected].
Specify your request (e.g., access, deletion, opt-out).
  • For data controlled by Google or Zeffy: Refer to their respective privacy policies and tools.

7. Children's Privacy

This Site is not for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their data directly. Users must meet age requirements for registration/donation (typically 18+).

8. Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect data accessible to us. No system is 100% secure. Third parties (Google, Zeffy, Cloudflare) are responsible for their own security.

9. Data Retention

We keep information accessible to us as long as needed for stated purposes or legal requirements. Third parties follow their own retention policies.

10. International Visitors

This Site targets a US audience and operates under US law. If accessing from elsewhere (like the EU), your use signifies agreement to data transfer to the US and governance by this policy and US law.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
